Brand Focus: Céline Fall 2014

The Céline Fall 2014 show was an example of androgynous fashion with a twist. It was all about the structure and menswear-inspired tailoring with a feminine touch. The coats really caught my eye.

The first looks featured a set of calf length black coats with white buttons. The tailoring drew inspiration from silhouettes of the 1930s. Phoebe Philo knows how to define her style and pays attention to details. The looks on the catwalk were all put together. With a background in menswear designing, Phoebe defines the label's style with a touch of masculine elements in the collection. A fit and flare tailoring gives the coat a feminine feel. It combines both the fashion taste of power and sensuality.

The collection also featured all kinds of oversized coats with non-fitted waist and long sleeves. Phoebe has been experimenting with different kinds of fabrics. The coats were textured with checks patterns, fringes, and calf hair in leopards parttern. The design seems comes naturally. The models looked effortlessly chic in the ensembles.

Spot On: Classic Leopard Coat

Two ways to wear a leopard coat. With a belt or without a belt.
Adding a belt over the top of your coat can add structure and define your waistline.

DIY: Vanilla and Cinnamon Lip Scrub

Do you have chapped lips? This Vanilla and Cinnamon Lip Scrub is the best remedy. I seem to have chapped lips all winter. Sometimes, my lips are so dry and hurt so bad. I use this lip scrub to get rid of dead skins on my lips. This lip scrub is very easy to make and you can find all of the ingredients in your kitchen.

2 tsp honey
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
pinches of powdered cinnamon

Brand Focus: Chloé Fall 2014

When I think of French minimalism, Chloé always appeals to me. I'm constantly inspired by the effortless attitude and the sophisticated designs from the French powerhouse. The brand defines what the so-called luxury prêt-à-porter is really like.

Here are some of my favourite looks from this collection.

Back To Mono

Speaking of style, I would describe my style as classic with an edgy twist. Monochromatic minimalism definitely plays a vital role. I tend to wear all black outfits. Albeit a bit unintentionally.

It is still winter here. Staying stylish may present a challenge. Chunky sweaters, leather jacket are layer-friendly fashion essentials in my wardrobe. I don't have to compromise style while staying warm in cold weather.

The key to this look is by adding a pop of colour that contrasts the rest of the ensemble. Red is loud. Also, the quilted detail makes the handbag an instant classic.

Statement Necklaces are huge throughout every season. The trend stays for a reason. It is the most easiest way to perk up any outfit.  No doubt statement necklaces became my wardrobe staples.

You don't have to spend a lot of money on statement necklaces. Here are my recent favourites. I just can't wait to wear them.

Pattern Play: How to Mix Prints

Within the last few years, mixed print is one of the biggest trends. From runway to real life, the trend is all about unleashing creativity.  Being conservative is not always the option. Sometimes, mixing prints can be fun and it is not too hard to pull it off.

Rule of thumb, mix and match any kind of print as long as they share most of their colours. Whether your style is more towards modern romantic or sports luxe, here are a few how-to’s on mixing prints to create visually appealing looks.

Fast Fashion Vibe: Jeremy Scott's Debut Collection for Moschino

Many of you may have already watched the Fall 2014 Moschino show last week. That was Jeremy Scott's debut collection for Moschino.

Not surprisingly, he's known for his sense of humor in his designs. In my opinion, this time his take on fast fashion has gone too far. He was trying to play with the whole concept of fast fashion and incorporated McDonald’s iconic red and yellow palette to complete some of the looks. Sure, those McDonald’s-inspired looks are playful, a bit of quirky, and most importantly statement makers. Maybe it is hard to find the balance between flashy and classy.

Moschino, the Italian label's motto was "fashion should be fun and should send a message". Despite of the bold, vibrant colours, Moschino always has a touch of elegance and luxury feel. After Jeremy Scott took the helm, I didn't see the classy Italian Moschino from this capsule collection. What do you think?
